BREAKING! Orange exec reads rumor sites, too.

There’s a lot of press coverage surrounding the fact that an executive at Orange, Stéphane Richard, might’ve acknowledged the existence of the iSlate. On a radio show he said this:

Journalist: Selon l’hebdomadaire Le Point, votre partenaire apple va lancer une tablette. (According to the weekly Le point, your partner apple will launch a tablet.)

Exec: Oui. (Yes.)

Journalist: Doté d’une webcam… (Equipped with a webcam…)

Exec: Oui. (Yes)

Journalist: Est-ce-que les usagers d’Orange en bénéficieront aussi? (Will the subscribers of Orange benefit from it too?)

(Of course. They will benefit, even more easily because with the webcam, we will be able to transmit video in real time. We will modernize in some way this videophone that we have known for some years, and also, the scale of the network that we have put in place in service of the French will allow these new uses to develop everywhere.)

Now, a lot of people are wetting themselves at the thought that someone in the know publicly acknowledged the existence of the upcoming iSlate, but do you really think such a public and awkward leak would be let out, and like this? I’m not saying he’s wrong (I’m not saying he’s right, either, because I honor my goddamn NDAs), but did it ever occur to anyone in the idiot blogosphere that maybe this guy reads tech rumor sites, just like every other person in the goddamn industry, and that considering Orange has the iPhone, he just assumed they’d also get the iSlate?
