700,000 iPads sold on Day 1?

Gene Munster, formerly of a black and white monster-mash sitcom and currently of analyst firm Piper Jaffray, estimates that upwards of 700,000 iPads were sold on day one alone. Sure, he’s probably pulling that number out of his Frankensteinian ass, but it’s a good number, and it’s making me go all rubbery. So let’s pretend it’s real, just like Munster did, because we can’t let a news cycle go by without pretending to have information we can’t possibly have rather than waiting for Apple to officially release those numbers, because we have to puff our chests and be Big Men for the media.

Munster’s dingbattery aside, if sales were anywhere near 700,000 for one day, that would be phenomenal, and more than enough to make all those iPad haters — I’m talking to you, Victor — shut up.

(Fun fact: I auditioned for the role of Grandpa Munster, but they told me I was too old, and “nightmare scary,” and not “pathetically funny old cat with no teeth” scary, which is what they went for)

Grandpa’ Al Lewis was like a god, to me. We misses him terribly. He’d have made a better governor than either Elliot Spitzer, cuz he wouldn’t have resigned or Howard Stern, who’s all mouth and no action.
