More Evidence I’m Right about Mac OS
MacRumors has a story about Apple looking for people to work on “Next Generation Media Applications.”
Apple is looking for an engineer to work on a team “tasked with creating the next generation application for manipulating media”. They are looking for someone to be involved in creating “new user interfaces” with the purpose of “allowing the user to manipulate content in new and exciting ways”.
What does that sound like to you? It sounds like Mosspuppet being right! Suck it, crapcakes!
Everyone who uses their Mac for real work (ie., not Michael Arrrrrrrington) always says “but how could you do creative work in iOS? How could you video edit?” amid suggestions that Apple wouldn’t stop selling apps like Final Cut Pro just because iOS is doing well. Maybe, but it seems like they’re looking to rebuild apps like that to make them work with the “new” touch paradigm, which is to say the way my close, personal friend Steve Jobs wants everyone to use their computers.
My concret predictions:
- The external multitouch trackpad prototype that was floating around will be released with a screen, being a smaller iPad. The entire interface will be manipulated using the pad (which could be pretty goddamn amazing for video editing).
- Once media makers are comfortable with this, Apple will release iOS versions of Final Cut Studio, and tell other companies (like the lazy bastards at Adobe) to go out and do likewise.
- Apple will kill the keyboard and mouse-based creative apps.
No one will notice.
