Ed Bott smacks John Gruber in his curly face.

After Gruber dismissed Ed Bott’s warning about Mac Malware as being “Crying Wolf,” Bott responds with a potential nuclear bomb: he’s got an interview with an AppleCare call center employee, who reports that Mac malware infections are going through the goddamn roof, and lets slip with an astonishing bombshell: if AppleCare employees help customers remove malware from their compromised systems, they could be fired.

I assume Gruber won’t respond for a few days, as he’ll need some time to learn how to be a journalist.

Gruber was saying that ignoring these cries of wolf would be at everyone’s own peril. The boy and the sheep got eaten. stupid puppet.

That may be the end of the fable, but the saying “to cry wolf” means “to raise false alarm” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cry_Wolf
No where in Gruber’s article does he make a statement that would lead you to believe he’s referring to the end of the fable.

This (quoted from Gruber site) is also noteworthy. Gruber burps and I quote –

Today we’re starting to roll out a fix which addresses a potential security flaw that could, under certain circumstances, allow a third party access to data available in calendar and contacts. This fix requires no action from users and will roll out globally over the next few days.

It hadn’t occurred to me that they could fix this server-side. This means users won’t have to wait for any sort of software update on their devices, and takes all the piss and vinegar out of my snark yesterday.

Your persistent Gruber hatred is weird and boring. Its past time to dump you from my RSS feed.

A couple of obvious facts for you.
    1. An Apple care employee allegedly saying in an e-mail means nothing.
    2. Negative points for quoting anything from anyone at ZDnet. But especially Ed Bott who writes “The Microsoft report”. He obviously has an agenda that anyone with an ounce of sense can see right through by reading his grandiose blog.
    3. There is a difference between a trojan and a virus. Look it up.
    4. I’m sure Gruber would be surprised anyone thinks that he thinks he is a journalist. He writes a blog. Not the same thing.
    5. One trojan that requires the user to be dumb enough to install it is not a “malware explosion”
